8 Ways to Increase Your Energy

8 Ways to Increase Your Energy

We all struggle with it at some point – that run down, tired feeling that just doesn’t go away. The cause can be a variety of challenges, but here are some tips to help increase your energy level without caffeine.

  1. Chiropractic Care. Several things can cause your spine to move out of alignment. Spinal misalignment can lead to pain and fatigue. Both preventative & corrective care can not only help with pain but also increase your energy level.
  2. Move More. When you are tired, it is difficult to find motivation to get up and move. But believe it or not, this can actually increase your energy level. A simple walk or even stretching can have long lasting benefits.
  3. Increase Hydration. One of the signs of dehydration is fatigue. Make sure you are drinking enough water all day long. The average person should aim for approximately 64 ounces per day.
  4. Manage Mealtimes. Making sure to have small, frequent meals is vital to preventing energy from lagging. Avoiding large meals will help as well. Make sure to have breakfast every morning, and then eat every 2-3 hours throughout the day.
  5. Stop Stressing. Stress can take its toll on your health in a variety of ways, including fatigue. Finding ways to manage anxiety and stress can actually help increase your energy levels. Try deep breathing, meditation, or self care, which can all decrease your stress levels.
  6. Vital Vitamins. Deficits in Magnesium, Vitamin B12 and Vitamin D can all contribute to a decrease in energy. Talk to your doctor about what foods and vitamins are appropriate to supplement.
  7. Cut the Carbs. Not all carbohydrates are created equally. Decrease the processed and high sugar carbohydrates (sweets & breads) and instead focus on food high in fiber and nutritiously dense (sweet potatoes, oats, quinoa & legumes).
  8. Aim for 8. You might be tired because you are simply not resting enough. When we sleep, our bodies are able to rest and repair from all of the damage we do to it during the day. When we don’t get enough sleep, we don’t get enough repair, and it can be exhausting. The average adult needs approximately 8 hours of sleep each night.
